Christian's Totem continues to rack up great reviews and awards for their burgers. They were recently named to the annual Saveur 100 list for their Jalapeno Cheeseburger. I haven't had the Jalapeno Cheeseburger myself but I can imagine it is pretty awesome.

Christian's Makes Saveur 100 List

Your site is making me real hungry - nice work on the reviews. Have you ever reviewed any joints in Michigan?
ReplyDeleteMy last trip (and I do mean last) to Christian's Totem resulted in a severe burn to the inside of my mouth that took 10 days to heal. Apparently, the burger patty I was served had been sitting around prior to my arrival so they nuked it. This resulted in a dry and unbelievably hot patty. When I bit into it and began to chew, I sustained a nasty burn before I could spit it out. The fries had also predated my arrival, and were re-dipped into the grease to crisp them up. This made them crisp, all right, but they didn't resemble potato in the middle anymore -- they were just fried grease. Christians is just so-so, and also very hit-and-miss. There are lots of good burgers out there that are reliable. Why risk being served a nuked burger and refried french fries?
ReplyDeleteGreat burger (Cheese burger - 1/2 lb. all the way) I'd rank it just below the 105 Grocery & Deli, the Town & Country in Sanderson and the
ReplyDeleteHog Pen (or whatever it is named) in Newcastle. R.W.
I am a regular at Christians and I've never had a problem with their burgers or fries being nuked or cold. In fact, I usually can't help but dive in too early, while the burger is still fresh off the grill and the fries just pulled from the grease, unfortunately resulting in a burnt tongue, thus taking away from the experience. That might be what makes me keep going back: the chance that I might one day enjoy the entire burger and all it's many flavors. Keep it up Christians.
ReplyDeletechristian's does not even have a nuke device in the whole building
ReplyDeleteI don't believe the comment about the nuked burger. I have been going to Christian's since before the Houston Press review put it on the map, and have never had such an experience. I also question whether they even own a microwave.
